At Rattlesnake Fire we work hard to save our taxpayers money! We have structured our district so that every residence we serve is within 5 miles of a fire station. We have also strategically placed our cisterns even closer to make sure we have an adequate water supply throughout the district. We worked with developers and required hydrants in our newer subdivisions (Elk Horn and Spring Valley). Our volunteers train, train, and train some more. We have developed comprehensive programs to reduce risk and educate our residents. Our apparatus is in top shape mechanically and equipped with top of the line tools to help us protect our "customers".
When ISO comes and evaluates a fire department it is a comprehensive review that takes months to complete. When all is said and done they deliver a rating on a one to ten system. A class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection (there are less than a dozen in Colorado), and a class 10 indicates that the area's fire suppression program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria. At Rattlesnake Fire we were issued a class five for the entire district in 2000. In 2014 we did another evaluation with ISO, and we are proud to announce that we kept our ISO class 5 throughout the district and earned an ISO class 4 in our neighborhoods with fire hydrants (Elk Horn and Spring Valley)! Because of the pride and dedication of our firefighters these lower ISO ratings save each homeowner thousands of dollars on their homeowners insurance. We wouldn't be able to do it without the support from our community so thank you!
